a lot of things

When I started this blog I was thinking I could keep it updated on a regular basis, pretty often that is, but business as usual it did not at all turn into that. And so one month seems to have gone by since my last post.

Not that I really give a  shit about it other than the fact that it just gets more and more in my mind to put on this god forsaken kind of paper. Being very two faced in the way that I prefer the physical paper but cant stand to write with pencil maybe I should close down the blog, print the papers and hand them out to whoever wants them. Weird thoughts that does not really add up to anything, enough gibberish I guess.

As of time one month does not really seem like a long one, thinking back it seems like a lifetime in some senses. So many things that happened, so many things that changed. For one thing I am very disturbed by the weather, kinda very stupid thing to be, but I am. Should be like summer according to me, instead I have experienced four seasons in one day.

Other than that one of my best friends here in Macedonia, also volunteer, got done with his volunteer service and therefore left the country. Of course a bit a sad, also been a strange kind of period seeing how I did a lot of things with this guy. But people come and people go.

The last couple of weeks has pretty much been about the great thing known to man as Couch Surfing!

For those of you not familiar with this great concept it is by far the cheapest and also best way to travel. You just apply on the site couchsurfing.org and whenever you are going somewhere you just use the site and see who might have a couch for you to crash on. So staying for free and also meeting pretty interesting people I believe.

I have so far only used the service as a host, so far had about 7-8 people staying. But had a great experience so far. Beside meeting interesting people and learning about different cultures, their particular trips and so on I have got one book and one jar of honey (for my bad throat). Oh and also this one guy fixed my door so it does not make the squeaky sounds anymore.

Also I have been doing some actual work, believe it or not :) We organized a cleaning day with an other organization and gathered people and went to this place known as Tumba Kafe and cleaned it. Though we where suppose to keep this up and maybe organize one cleaning day every two weeks this has yet to happen. Besides this I have helped out with some pre-work for a monodrama festival (building seating for the audience) and finally this very weekend I was in Skopje representing our organization. There was this big celebration for volunteer service in Europa, as it apparently is the year of volunteers. It was a great day with awesome weather and meeting up with good people.

Stayed for the weekend at an other volunteer's place, beer and good company. Also found my first vegetarian burger in Balkans, hurray! :D They had a wide range of this but I went for the seitan burger which I got recommended, also I have been meaning to try this seitan stuff out but never got around to it before. Anyway I really enjoyed it, though it was a bit to crispy for my taste.

Going back to Skopje again this weekend getting together with a lot of the great people who was at the on-arrival course and will probably try out some of the other burgers! Besides that my plan is to find this ice-cream place called Eskimo which is apparently the best in Skopje.

So long and thanks for all the fish, don't believe I got the last month covered in this post, but honestly I don't really give a damn and am just happy to got something down on this... piece of paper.

Quick update

Yesterday my great friend Jordan had his birthday party and it was overall a great night. Always nice to meet some new people, and also it was great to see the host in such good mode!

Anyway thinks got tough in the end but lets just leave it at that and look at the morning.

Waking up on a sofa to the sound of someone refilling the snacks at the party. To tired to care about it - sleep goes on. Only to later realize I was not still at the party but on my sofa in my flat, and the refilling sound was but Carl putting his breakfast serials in a bowl.

This will be a great day, happy times everybody around the world!

Photo update #2

Starting with some Street art from Bitola.

Rafael (to the right) performing at Kod, the guy to the left works at the place but apparently does some rap as well - great night!

 The working out place!

 Party at my place.

Dressed up for the 1st of april Carneval, I'm a Leprichaun. Guess what the others are.
My green partner in crime :)

The best company one can have on a buss ride.

3 swedish guys headed for the on-arrival training in Sarajevo + 1 random basketball player (guess who is the basketball player).
 Pictures from Sarajevo.

 From the Tunnel of Hope.

4 kinds of Rakija being documented from 4 angles.

There is a lot to be told about our one week in Sarajevo, Bosnia. Of course involving a lot of the pictures above, but at the moment I am all out of words, so study the pictures good and more information about it all is to come.

Big update, I hope!

Feels like it was forever since I wrote in this blogg. Forever in my mind perhaps, anyway I won't be doing the whole: this happened on that date shit anymore. Didn't really like the concept, gets to much gibberish, and I'm pretty good at that stuff anyway... :)

One amazing evening I'm gonna share with you was hosted in a park, a company of maybe 20-30 people. Apparently it was a birthday party, sadly my easily distracted mind didn't focus enough to remember the birthday-boy (wo-ho, I did remember the gender). Also I won't be sharing any photos this time. Takes to long time to upload and choice what to put where, would distract me to much from the writing part. But I really love this kind of gathering in parks. The relaxed friendly atmosphere where there is no dress code and anyone passing by is welcome. Communication is English, Macedonian (still not from me though) and whatever else gibberish the drunk mind could think of took place.

After some time people started to drop off and we decided that maybe it was better to take it inside, still not summer I guess, and went for some night club. There was a live band playing cover songs and even some people dancing/jumping around. After not so long time I ended up in the more relaxed part of the building, drinking beer and socializing with some random people.

But the best part was the going home.

On the way we made a quick stop to yet an othetr night club where I scored one glass of whiskey for free.

I climbed a building. We walked whatever way seemed interesting. The best way to get to know a place is to get lost (probably not while drunk though). Thought of more places to climb, found one more at least. Suddenly we remembered at tomorrow - hitch hiking to Prilep to climb a mountain. So I felt it was enough climbing for the night.

1 hour sleep. Breakfast for champions. Great luck with hitch hiking. Worse luck with climbing for my friend Rafael who sprained his ankle. Putting the stone in Estonia he still made it to the top, also putting the crazy in there I guess. Wonderful place, but if you read this blog you have already seen the pictures from there.

Been showed around in town to some places I could probably work at if things goes to slow: a kindergarden, a center for children with hearing problems and also the center of culture. Also ran into this amazingly looking fellow and had to take a picture:

Just finding out I had already uploaded a lot of the pictures to this blog I will add some more for you, enjoy the show:

An amazing hill with a great view over the city and also old military ground with planes and tanks!

Was also showed to the theater where some friends are making a play. Got the opportunity to join, but at the moment I am not interested (perhaps this will change).

The day after this I watched Rafael perform his Estonian rap in the great club known as Kod, and it was an amazing evening - even if I couldn't understand a word I did enjoy the energy.

Found a great place for working out, Tomba Kafe I think it is called. The story is something like the Turkish people used to come there and drink coffee back in the days when it was a Turkish place. Anyway it is, as so many things in Bitola, located on a hill with a great view and has all kinds of gear for training. Right now my interest for this is lower than the theater though.

I'm getting to the point where it seems inpossible to continue without adding pictures, so I will start uploading again and think of what comes next.. (meaning a new post is already on the way)
